About the Artist

Leslie Vance - Biography

Art is a way of connecting.

Capturing moments on canvas.

When I render a place, person, or object with paint, I intend that this visual expression will resonate with those who view it.  Hopefully, it will cause the viewer to recognize the beauty of the subject, and it’s worthiness to be painted.

Although painting is a solitary journey, influences build the road for the journey.  My influences have been a childhood exposure to art through museums, art books, and paintings in our home.  Art training has been scattered throughout a busy life, through private lessons, and college classes.  Highlights have been studying under Larry Gluck in The Mission Renaissance School of Art  in Los Angeles California, and under Tim Stevenson of Florence, Alabama.

Mastering the challenge of rendering my subjects on canvas is a lifelong pursuit, the journey is ongoing.
